Kevin Durant and Draymond Green Exchange, the analysis.

On Monday night, November 12, Kevin Durant was very demonstrative when Draymond Green took the ball coast to coast in an attempt to tie a ball game and probably forced overtime. It did not go down very well, Draymond took offence to the way Kevin went at him and as a result, said things to Kevin that should not have been said in public.

The team since then has been struggling as they have lost 5 games in a row. Although Captain and leader Steph Curry is out injured, Golden State Warriors are a much better team than what we are seeing for the past couple of days. Despite the rumours and what has been said this is our take on the situation.

Golden State Warriors have their mantra, “Strength in numbers”, a tagline that I have grown to love, watching this group of men play together is interesting to watch, however, all of that is threatened by 36 seconds of rants when I counted the time. Kevin Durant and Draymond Green are friends, however, their relationship may never be the same, but there is a bigger picture.

LOS ANGELES, CA – NOVEMBER 12: Draymond Green #23

Relationships are pretty much like that, you take the time and energy to build and in seconds all of that can be torn down in a matter of 36 seconds.

There are so many layers to this situation but the one that stands out the most is the effect this can have on the future of the team. We are all sitting back and hoping that there will be a favourable outcome, so I will talk to Draymond and Kevin directly.

The question I am going to ask you both is what is the goal of playing on a basketball team? To win championships, which I think you both have in common and you will do anything it takes to achieve your goals, then the one thing that has wrecked countries, marriages, kingdoms, and the list goes on is our egos.

The media is having a field day in order to make money, the organization is panicking because of the impact it could have on their bottom line, while the other teams are celebrating, some persons could not care less if you both stayed together or went your separate ways. Take some time and think guys, shut out the noise and be an example and shut up the haters, “Strength in numbers”.

To Draymond. I know you are all about commitment, comradery, teamwork and loyalty. You have seen it work, energy and caring for the person on your team, genuinely. You have won some championships and you have seen what effect one disgruntled teammate can have on the overall goal. I just love your spirit, your competitive nature and despite your height, you are taller than most men. However, not all men are like you some are motivated by something different, but it doesn’t mean you should be mean to them.

To Kevin. You just want to win, all your life you had to settle for second, they never talk about you the way they talk about Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Shaquille O’Neil, Magic Johnson, Julius Erving and the list goes on, they may never talk about you like that, who knows, but you are an excellent basketball player, who cares what other people think? You have accomplished so much and you will acquire so much more, so whether Draymond acknowledges it or not, he would probably be starving for another ring, you are making a difference to the team.

Now look each other in the eyes and say you are both sorry, yes you both made mistakes, but it is no reason why you cannot forgive each other and move on from this… you can do it, I know you both can.
